My PreACT Summer

I spent this summer getting ready for the PreACT. Not because anyone told me to, but because I wanted to know where I actually stood.

The English section surprised me. It wasn’t about knowing more vocabulary or reading faster. It was about applying a handful of grammar and writing rules quickly, over and over, without second-guessing. Comma splices. Misplaced modifiers. Whether a sentence earns its transition. Small things that add up.

So I made myself a system: learn the concept, practice it on real questions, figure out exactly what went wrong, then do it again. Nothing clever. Just that loop, repeated until the mistakes stopped repeating.

Somewhere in the middle of it, I realized the hardest part wasn’t the material. It was not knowing which skills to work on in the first place. I had spent weeks fixing problems I didn’t know I had.

That’s the reason I started PreACT Lab. If the loop worked for me, it can work for other eighth graders. They shouldn’t have to spend a summer figuring out the map on their own.
